The
first Evolver book, Fifty Wessex Artists, features
the work of fifty professional artists currently living and
working in the region.
Each
artist is represented by a full page example of their work
alongside a short essay by Fiona
Robinson and a studio-based portrait photograph by Richard
Sercombe.
Evolver
magazine editor (and designer of the book) Simon Barber says:
"We wanted to build on the success of the magazine by
publishing a book that could celebrate the quality and originality
of the region's most exciting artists."
In
his foreword, Professor Simon Olding, former director of Bournemouth's
Russell-Cotes Art Gallery and now professor at the University
of Creative Arts, describes the book as "a gathering
of interest in a community of artists," revealing "a
valuable snapshot of compelling fine art."
