VENUS IN THE LANDSCAPE
30 January - 23 February
Wiltshire artist Mirka Golden-Hann has curated this new exhibition to pay tribute to one of the oldest ceramic artefacts in the world, discovered in her native Czech Republic.
The Venus of Dolní Vêstonice is a ceramic figurine of a nude female figure, dated to 29,000 - 25,000 BC. It was found in 1925 at the Paleolithic site Dolní Vêstonice in Moravia, part of the Czech Republic, and for a long time was thought to be the oldest surviving ceramic figurine in existence.
